About this event

Edinburgh AMR Showcase

We are delighted to invite you to join us for a day highlighting the global challenge posed by the increasing resistance of bacteria, viruses, parasite and fungi to antibiotics, and the ways in which colleagues are the University of Edinburgh are tackling this challenge.

The morning sessions will feature talks from leading Edinburgh academics on topics including host responses to bacterial infection, use of bacteriophage as alternatives to antibiotics, and policy development to address AMR.

In the afternoon, attention will be on contributions from our industry partners and hearing from researchers whose research has potential industrial applications.

We would like to encourage all students and postdocs to bring posters and share their work over coffee and lunch.

The event concludes with the Edinburgh Infectious Diseases Winter Lecture 2022.

Edinburgh Infectious Diseases Winter Lecture

Our keynote lecture will be given by Professor Frank Aarestrup from the Danish Technical University in Copenhagen.

Frank and his colleagues have carried out ground breaking work to use genomic surveillance of waste water to build power pictures of the emergence of antimicrobial resistance across the globe.

About the speaker

The lecture will be preceded by examples of public engagement activities, and the lecture will be followed by a drinks reception to which everyone is very welcome.

Full details of the Edinburgh AMR Showcase programme will be available shortly.
